Smocked Tulips

It was bound to happen sooner or later.  I was smocking one of my favorite smocking designs, Ellen McCarn's "Tulip Garden", on yellow gingham, and started having one of those moments when everything seems a little too familiar.  It finally came to me.  I had used this same design on yellow gingham about 20 years ago for a special birthday dress!  Same fabric, same smocking, different style dress.

That is one of my all time favorite plates. I wouldn't worry about making it again, it's so beautiful and the fabric and plate go so perfectly together that it's no wonder you paired them again.

I have not tried picture smocking. I suppose it is time to give it a go. This work is lovely!
