My Most Common Sewing Mishap

I thought that I would share my most common sewing mishap. It is.........getting those buttonholes straight! Don't you hate when the outfit is complete and one of the last steps is where your big mistake happens? I think I have finally solved this problem by marking a straight line the total length instead of just marking the buttonholes.

I have a 12" quilter's ruler that I found works well for this. You wouldn't believe how having the whole line drawn helps me keep the buttonhole attachment straight!

This is such a simple step that it seems silly, but that is how sewing is, it is the little details that often trip us up!

Congratulations on your new granddaughter! She is a little doll -- and a well-dressed one at that!

I posted pics today of my Emma in the bishop dress from your Wetumpka class. I had Beth's construct it for me and did the smocking during my down time this summer.

Smocking the dress was easy; getting her picture in it was another story. I took Emma's picture in it earlier this fall at a favorite park, but could not retrieve them from my SD card and had to replace it. So we visited a pretty spot in downtown Wetumpka yesterday, but when I pulled out my camera and discovered my battery was still on the counter charging. It took us 20 minutes to make the usual drive home due to construction, so I resigned myself to taking pictures in our backyard -- maybe the route I should have taken all along!

Thanks for the great buttonhole tip, I used it yesterday and it was very helpful, now if I can just remember to do it the next time.
