A Bit Unplugged

As readership for the blog increases so do Facebook friend requests.  I just wanted to let you know that although I do want to be your friend, I do not Facebook, so it is not personal. :)  Yes, I do have a Facebook presence, but I have not posted pictures or information in about 2 years.  I have found that the blog is as much personal information as I care to share and you can always contact me through the blog or website if needed.

So, now you are not surprised that I also do not Tweet or have a smart phone, although I love Pinterest and can spend a bit too much time there.  I find that if I am too "plugged in" that it cuts down on the creativity that I would like to think is going on in my mind.  And when I am around others I want to give them full attention and not be tempted to check on the status of the rest of the world.  Sounds a bit old fashioned, but I raised my family when there were 4 channels on TV and the internet was still new.  I find that being a little less connected is still a comfortable place for me.

Michie! I do understand your feelings. We now live in a very different 'connected' world. Not always connected with those whom we should be! Good for you. Hope your life is steady for now. Sally and I talked at length back in April..feel like I know you much better. I do have a smart phone..for travel purposes it is great. For daily use...Not so much. ;-) Karin

Would love to disconnect! Maybe one day when I'm not making a living blogging. It kind of goes hand in hand. BTW here's the post I was telling you about at Bunco night: http://www.sweettmakesthree.com/2012/05/how-to-start-a-blog/

You have a lot on your plate Michie so I agree with you that you are as plugged in as you should be!! I am glad I can see you at Church, wave and say hi!!

You probably have more company in these thoughts than you realize! I joined FB mainly to keep in touch with some younger family members. When my store was open, I received so many FB requests from customers. I truly did consider my customers as friends. However, it can be difficult to stay in touch with them, but also protect your family's privacy.
I think your approach makes perfect sense! We all need to unplug a little and enjoy life more.

Our Sunday School Class this last week was on all these "new" things. I just looked up at the screen in wonder. I do not have facebook or twitter or anything but just plain internet and as I was listening I realized I didn't want any of those things at all. The internet takes up all the time I want to give. I don't have time for anymore.
