New Shirt And Shorts Pattern!
The new Shirt and Shorts pattern #139 is now ready to ship! I have my suspicions that our little guy and his daddy are both thrilled to have such a big boy looking outfit. Sizes 3 months to 3 years are included in the pattern, along with a pointed or Peter Pan collar and an optional pocket. The shorts are plain in front with elastic in the back.
The inspiration for this pattern? I have a picture of Rex when he was about 8 months old, in 1956, wearing a very similar outfit. When you can wear an outfit like your grandda wore, you truly have a classic.

Busy, Busy, Busy!
A good kind of busy! A new pattern is almost ready to be announced, cute outfits are almost ready to photograph for next years Sew Beautiful Magazine, and I'm teaching at Martha Pullen's School of Art and Fashion this week. Don't you love how everything comes together and due at the same time!
I'm thankful beyond words that the school is local so I will not be traveling and that the girls will be able to check in on Rex during the day. We are blessed beyond words.

The Monster Jon-Jon
Since teething tends to bring out the worse in the boy, including biting, we though a monster Jon-Jon was appropriate. The Jon-Jon is made from my favorite blue and white seersucker, and the applique' is from Planet Applique'.

Another Sundress For The Girl
Yes, another sundress and one that will also be cute with a tee shirt underneath in the fall.
Grandda picked out the fabric while we were in Nashville. Green gingham piping contrasted beautifully with the fabric.
While this happens to be mommy's favorite style on the girl, it is also one of my favorite to make!

The One Hour Jon-Jon
I do sew fast, but I was surprised that it took barely over an hour to cut out and stitch together this simple Jon-Jon! The fabric was from the stash that I bought in Nashville and is covered with cute little fish.
Just what the boy needs for our hot humid summer days. Although it seems odd to be sewing for summer in July, someone has decided it is time for a growing spurt! Besides the Jon-Jon will be just as cute in the fall with a white shirt underneath.

Snaps For Play Clothes
I might as well go ahead and admit that I hate dealing with grippers or snaps as much as you do! With all the play clothes that I have made for the summer, it was time to get back to basics and start using the same type of metal snaps that I used when my kids were little. After I bought a new Dritz snap kit, I found my 35 year old one in the drawer. They haven't changed one tiny bit, but since a hammer is used in the project my old one is pretty beat up.
A little hint here, take time to really think through which way the snaps should face. The bubble pictured is correct. Also, you might want to have a few extra snaps in case you drop one under the deck while using the hammer and decided it is not worth going after......

A Touch Of Rick Rack
I love the vintage look of this fabric that I found on clearance, and it told me that it needed jumbo rick rack! The round yoke dress was completed, including the button holes, before I top stitched the rick rack around the edge of the yoke.

The Inchworm Sunsuit
Just because summer has already arrived doesn't mean that the little people around here have stopped growing, so I have had to scramble to stitch up a few more warm weather outfits with growing room.
I had some light weight cotton chambray that had been on the shelf way too long. Pattern #132 always goes together quickly, and how about a hand embroidered inchworm for a fun summer touch!
Someone is still pretty excited over being able to walk! :)

A Playsuit For The Boy
A playsuit for our super hot weather. Made by pattern #123, out of my favorite blue gingham, and smocked with a simple geometric design. Who says that boys don't look good in bubbles?
