Hi Michie,
One of my favorite Easter garments is a little light blue romper I made for my first son's 2nd Easter. It has Peter Cottontail smocked on each side and a little belt. I always love rompers on chubby baby legs. My 5th baby will be wearing it next Easter. I enjoy your blog very much; thanks for the inspiration.
I am making a blue romper for my grandson this Easter. I will make a pocket using a cross stitched bunny made for my children's nursery. It makes his outfit even more special.

I made a little dress with a pinafore and pantalets for my daughter's 1st Easter. I used a yellow floral for the dress and made a matching duck with long gangly legs to go with it. I let someone borrow the dress, never to see it again, but we still have the duck!
I am working on my niece's Easter dress now, and since it is the first Easter dress I have made on my own, it is my favorite. It is a bishop in pretty lavender batiste. I can't wait to see it on!

Last year I smocked and sewed two blue satin batiste dresses for my two blue-eyed girls. They are lovely - embellished with pearl beads, satin ribbon, and beautiful lace. I'm so proud of them that I'm letting the hems out and they will wear them again this year.
One of my favorites was a blue batiste smocked to the waist dress for our daughter. I stopped counting at 100 bullion roses. Last year I made a purple smocked to the waist for our grandgirl. But I wimped out on bullion roses, just made little smocked flowers with french knot centers. My daughter has already chosen a no smocking dress for the grandgirl for this Easter. I have the fabric, but have yet to get the pattern together. Thank you for all the beautiful inspiration! Love your patterns. I'm making the top and shorts from your #121 pattern now.
My favorite easter project was for my oldest son when he was about a year old. The outfit I made him was a blue linen shortall and white shirt with a square collar. The collar had embroidered duckies and flowers on it and was edged with tatting. He looked so cute and just like a little boy at easter should look.
Shortly after I learned to smock, I made my eldest daughter a blue sleeveless yoke dress with smocked bluebirds, threading a 2" pink grosgrain ribbon through the bottom of the smocking on front and tying it as a sash in the back. My youngest daughter wore a coordinating angel sleeve bishop. The girls love watching this year's dress emerge. I really have enjoyed reading your blog and your wonderful ideas and tips!
A memorable Easter project was a smocked bishop for my 16 month old granddaughter. The aqua mini check dress had picture smocking of bunnies and carrots. She wore it for 2 years and has passed it down now to her cousin.
My favorite Easter outfits were the matching dress and jon-jon I made for my great niece and nephew. They were white, with ecru smocking. My nieces bishop had pearls and satin ribbon. She was beautiful, and he was very handsome, dressed in white.
My favorite Easter garment was a bishop I made for my daughter whne she was 2. I was a pink batiste smocked with variegated pink floss and she had a sweet white Easter bonnet to wear with it. I LOVED making it for her. Now off to make this years dress for my youngest!
I finishing up a bunny bishop for my three year old right now. I'll be starting on my 6 year old's dress as soon as my order arrives in the mail. My mom always made my Easter dresses, and it's awesome to be able to do the same for my own girls!
My favorite is a smocked bubble my mom made for my oldest son for his first Easter. It was her first smocking project, and when we put it on him (at church), his little arms had gotten so chubby the we had to cut the inside of the sleeve band :)
I am making a smocked bishop from an eyelet fabric for my 7 month old granddaughter. When I get that finished, I hope to make the Kewpie outfit on the last issue of AS&E cover. I have a heart fabric in shades of blue to match her beautiful blue eyes!
It is so fun to get back into sewing for little girls - every year I made special Easter dresses for my two girls and sometimes had enough time to make a matching mom dress too - those were the days.
I am working on a 36" x 36" easter wall hanging for my 1 year old grandson. I am making a series of holiday wall hangings so each month his mommy can hang up that's month's holiday. I'm hoping this will help teach him the months of the year as well as the holidays. This project is a lot of fun.

One Easter I smocked "Blue Birds" for all three of my children. The boys had light blue button-on suits and my daughter had a light pink dress. They were so cute and I was so proud

One Easter I made bishop dresses out of peach with blue smocking for my 4-year old daughter, and a sky blue bishop with peach smocking for my 1-year old daughter. They even had matching smocked clutch bags (the kind with a little wooden handle where the cover buttons on and off so you can change it). The outfit was complete with white tights, and black patent leather shoes! The 11x14 of them in those dressed is on my wall.
I am currently working on my first grandson, James Matthew, first Easter suit. He is 4 months old. I am using pattern #134 with a linen/cotton blend in blue and white. I cannot wait to see him in his new clothes. He is such a joy
My favorite project is this year's project. Little blue with white polka dotted jumpers with geometric smocking across the yoke. My 2 and 4 year old daughters wanted matching dresses for church, so I had to oblige!
My favorite Easter garment was for my daughter made with a beautiful floral with bias embelishments from the same fabric on a round white collar. I still love the pictures of her although the dress was passed on to others years ago.
It seems like every year I am up until the wee hours hemming or doing whatever it takes to finish Caroline's Easter dress. Last year it was smocking. This year I started the dress as soon as I finished the Martha Pullen School. I love the planning part almost as much as the actual work. This year she will be attired in a little bishop that is made of some of the batiste that I bought in Paris last summer. Now I am home from Peru with baby Alpaca - she'll have a new coat maybe when she is about 6 and not growing quite so fast. I would love for her to wear it more than one season.
My favorite Easter outfit was a dress my mother made for me. It was a linen dress and coat. The dress was white and embroidered around the neck with white on white flowers. Helping with that dress instilled a love of sewing that I have never lost.
I love that my daughter has worn my dresses that my mom made me for Easter. Now I'm pregnant with our son, and I am dreaming of ways for them to both mathc, in gorgeous heirloom or smocked clothing. Hopefully they will be masterpieces created by my mom and me that their children can wear one day!
Hi Michie!
When my daughter was about three, I made her a cute little jumper out of easter bunny fabric. It was so cute I made one for each of her cousins who live in town. Now they are all young women and I can't believe how fast those years went.
I am currently working on my daughters Easter dress. This is my first smocking project. I took a class last year and started the panel, now I am finally constructing the dresses. It is a labor of love and I hope I something that I can pass to future generations.
I hand pin stitched the lace wedding ring dress by Cheryl Williams for my daughter for Easter approximately 20 years ago. I stayed up all night the night before Easter, but finally finished Easter morning. I was horrified when I put the dress on and it was way too little. I'm not sure what I did wrong, because I had made a muslin "shell" to test the sizing ahead of time. She still wore the dress even though it was too tight.
I love anything with shadow embroidery and one of my favorite projects was a gift for my niece. I made your Classic Dress pattern and shadow embroidered little pink bunnies on the collar. It was precious!
I think my favorite Easter sewing memory is from 11 years ago. I smocked matching bishops for my girls who were then 2 and 5. One blue, one yellow <3 I had never smocked before, but the owner of a local fabric store convinced me to try it. I am SO glad that she did!!!
Now those girls are 13 and 16, and I just can't believe how quickly time flies!!!
When my youngest was a toddler, I smocked an aqua bishop with a scalloped hem for Easter. Each scallop had a little ribbon bow and I finally finished the dreaded bullion roses for the smocking on time!
I guess my favorite one was when my first grandchild was born, I made him a precious bubble from pattern 102. I put shadow work machine embroidery on the collar. He was so sweet wearing that his first Easter at 3 mos. old.

My son's first Easter. It was the only one I got to have matching outfits for my children since my daughter was already a pre-teen!

I just recently started sewing and love it so for my granddaughters first Easter I am making Claire a robins egg blue dress from your pleated daygown pattern with ecru lace.I love that pattern and although it only goes to a size 12 months I am enlarging it a tiny bit. I am so grateful that all of your patterns are so easy to use as I am teaching myself how to sew and I am grateful I can make her the clothes I like her to wear.
My favorite Easter project was my first Heirloom dress that I made for my oldest daughter. I was the youngest in the class - everyone else was sewing for grandchildren. I made a sweet little bonnet to go with the dress. 13 years later my youngest daughter will wear that same dress for Easter.
My favorite Easter garment was the pink heirloom dress I made for my daughter, our first child. I made the dress thirty years ago on her first Easter. I used a Martha Pullen pattern and pink Spechler Vogul batiste. It was beautiful even though I had to struggle with my 10 year old singer to sew the delicate laces and pintucks. I have saved it for her first baby girl to wear.
When my children were small, I made us all outfits out of the same material. I smocked flowers on my little girls dress. My son I made him a shirt out of the green fabric and then I made myself a dress out of the same fabric. I had a great time doing this, stayed up all night to get all the hemming done, but I love every minute of it.

I have finally gotten my first heirloom dress done. Now my grandbaby -almost 4- has a new dress for Easter. However we did dress her up in it at our annual quilt show here in Las Vegas. She was a big hit!
I have just finished my first heirloom dress for my grandbaby-it only took 3 years. I think I have to give up targeting for a holiday and go for a season.
My favorite Easter garment was when my son, now 28, was only six months old. I was just a beginner sewer and struggling to follow pattern instructions. I made him a yellow linen shortall with a white shirt. I remember two things that happened that Easter. First we had to prop him up in a giant Easter basket surrounded by stuffed toys to take his picture and he kept tumbling over we barely got one taken we were laughing so hard. Then after church his Great Grandfather holding him closely to his cheek, framed by the light of a window to look at some ducks. It made such a cherished picture that I still have it on display in our living room. Jill Efting
My 1 year old granddaughter has been bombbared by my smocking since before she was born . This spring I smocked her the Princess dress by Grace Knott with front and back bodice smocked in white to the waist. Pale green is the dress color. As long as her mother loves them I will carry on. I smocked 30 yrs ago for my 2 sons. It also has a wave of ribbon. How do I send you a picture. janice.neal @gmail.com. I live in Rock Spring ,Ga
With two beautiful granddaughters six weeks apart, I am usually very busy but I am ahead of the game as both light green plaid, smocked dresses are complete.
Easter was my favorite time of year to sew my children's special outfits. They always wore pale yellow and I remember being up until all hours of the morning sewing the hems. They did look beautiful that day! Now I am sewing for my Granddaughter!
One Easter I made EVERYTHING handmade!! A friend of mine and I
sewed for hours together and then for hours apart in the evenings!! My three little girls had handmade bubble outfits and handmade bunnies. I made homemade candies for all four of my kids (I also have a son). I made Easter baskets for my husband, my parents, and my brother. I also made bread in the shape of a bunny rabbit. That was over 20 years ago, and now it is time to sew for the grands!! I sure wish I had some of that energy that I had 20 years ago!! I could sure use it!!!!!!!
My favorite Easter dress was the first one I made for my daughters first Easter. It was blue fabric smocked with Sundress Bunnies by Ellen McCarn.
Last Easter I made 4 outfits for my four grandchildren. Three were exactly the same since they were three girls in the same family. I tried not to get bored. They looked so precious matching! The one that was most fun was the one for my grandson!
Hello Everyone--I enjoy reading everyone's stories and can relate to many! One of my favorite Easter garments was a dress I made for my daughter when she was 4. It was ballet pink with an ecru collar with hand stitched tucks and French lace. I was a beginner and didn't do the fabric justice but we loved it.
Hello Everyone--I love all your Easter stories. My favorite dress was a ballet pink batiste with an ecru collar with hand stitched tucks. It was one of my first projects and it wasn't perfect but we loved it.
Many springs ago, I made Margaret Boyle's Pinafore Bib in organdy to go over a pink pintucked and lace-trimmed dress for my young daughter, and just loved the way it turned out.
I am using the sunsuit bubble for my son's Easter outfit. He just turned one and I love dressing him in classic clothing. I also used your classic bubble for his baptism last year. I am new to sewing but your patterns are so user-friendly I rarely struggle. When I do get stuck I call my mom for help:) Thank you so much for you beautiful patterns. I love you blog!!!
My favorite Easter outfit will always be my son's first because I it was the first thing I ever made for him. I had been sewing for many, many, many years but was teaching school at the time and didn't have much time to sew. (I quit that June!) I made your Heirloom Bubble after seeing it in the Baby Issue of "Sew Beautiful." That was Easter 2006; this year, I will make the last outfit I get to make for him for Easter since he's 5 1/2....linen shorts and a shirt. What began as one outfit at Easter turned into an obsession with making most all of my little guy's clothes! I love every minute of it!
Many years ago about maybe 20, my friend and her husband took their son (6 yrs)& 2 darling little daughters(4 yrs & 18 mo) and moved to Scotland for 3 yrs. I had baby sat for them frequently since the oldest was born. When I knew they were coming home for their first visit I had a premade & prepleated microcheck blue bishop that I finished for the 4 yr old girl. Smocked a puple bishop & bonnet for the 18 mo old. Bought and Easter bonnet for 4 yr old & gloves for both. Bought a new white shirt & blue tie for th 6 yr old boy. When they got here we went to JC Penney & had them all dressed up & had an Easter pic of them done. I still have the 8 x 10 on the wall. The 2 girls are both married now. Sweet Memories.
It is hard for me to choose which Easter outfit is my favorite! Easter is my favorite holiday and I love seeing my children in their lacey creations. I must say one of my favorites includes the shirts I made for my boys last year. They were white shirts with gathered lace down a front placket with an all lace round collar. They were particularly special because my mother 'n law bought the lace just before she passed away last March.
My favorite Easter project is the one I'm working on right now. Bullion bluebirds on a collar and your pleated bubble for my little boy. Thanks for doing the giveaway! Hallie
Oh, my gosh. My favorite Easter dress was made with sherbet-colored seersucker with gathers from shoulder to waist -- all done with elastic. Although it was WAY over my 14-year-old sewing skills, it was SO beautiful!
My favorite Easter sewing was two pleated pink line pique dresses with linen round collars that were shadow embroidered. I also made your a romper with one of your patterms in blue line pique with white linen top. I shadow embroidered it with a cute mouse pulling a wagon filled with an open pea pod. So much fun. Susan VH
I wish I could say I'm working on an heirloom garment for Easter this year, but ya gotta crawl before you can walk! I made my son some shorts (using your pattern) to go with an applique Easter shirt that he received as a gift. Maybe I can learn to make the shirt by next Easter!
My all time favorite Easter dress for my daughter was a mint gingham dress I smocked with bunnies and pink piping. I also made a little white pinafore that went over it with bunnies on it and it just screamed Easter and springtime!
About every other Easter (and until they became pre-teen), I made my nieces either matching or coordinating dresses. Some years they were heirloom-style made from handkerchief linen with lace shaping, and hand-embroidered flowers; other years, they were made from cute Easter-themed or spring-time floral fabrics with piping and other cute trims. It saddened me when they thought they were "too old" for all those "frilly\girl-y" dresses. Now, they are almost 17 and almost 20, and with the wonderful new patterns for adult-boutique-style clothing and boutique-style fabrics, I am certain that I will be able convince those two to allow me to make at least some coordinating blouse/skirt outfits for them to wear.
For Easter I am sewing a baby boy outfit for my daughters friends baby. It is the "Hush" pattern from the "Embroidered Christening Gowns" book. I am making it out of candlelight colored silk with ecru smocking. It is such a beautiful outfit, hopefully I can do it justice!

This Easter I made a blue and white polka-dotted yoke dress for my two year old daughter. It has yellow ducks smocked on a white inset. The collar, yoke, and cuffs are piped in yellow gingham. Super cute!
My neighbor/best friend and I were always so busy making Easter outfits for others that we saved our own Easter sewing for the night or two before Easter. I have fond memories of sitting up the night before Easter putting the finishing touches on our kids' outfits and taking a short break to hide eggs in the yard before the kids got out of bed. Sadly, my friend has passed away but the Easter sewing memories surface every Easter.
In the late 1960s, my aunt realized a need and made me a pink princess line dress while I was visiting her one weekend just before Easter. I returned home to find that my Grandmother had also made me a dotted Swiss dress with lace at the neck. I was torn as to which one to wear on Easter morning, but amazed at how much I was loved. I honored them by learning to sew and getting my Clothing and Textiles degree from the University of Georgia. I now make garments for less fortunate families and preemie babies. There is nothing like the feeling of giving back within your talent.
I don't get to sew as much as I would like. Life is busy right now. I do remember sewing matching dresses for my 2 oldest girls when they were around 2 and 4. They were pink and I smocked little Easter baskets on the front. They are still around and the granddaughters are getting to enjoy them.
Hi, I don't know if it's too late to post, but I will try. :) My Easter sewing this year is for my little one due April 18 (but could come anywhere between now and the day after Easter). I'm making a white flannel kimono with a little bird on a branch embroidered on the front. I've crocheted an edge in a salmon color, and will embroider a trim around the sleeves, then attach ribbon ties in front. I also knitted a pair of white booties for Baby's feet. I have so many projects I'd love to make for Baby, as well as for my two boys (3 and almost 2). It's so fun to sew for little ones! Thanks so much for your blog -- I am just beginning heirloom sewing -- with help and encouragement from my mom -- and your blog is helpful and inspiring!
