    I'm gathering the strength to begin teaching my 11-year old to smock. We're going to (hopefully) smock matching corduroy jumpers for the two, littler girls. But I'm still trying to find a simple, basic smocking plate for a yoke jumper pattern. Any ideas?

    I have been busy making summer clothes for my grandson, Reid, who is about a week younger than your Christian! Some of the outfits are smocked, some are appliqued, and some are monogrammed.
    I'm taking a little break from boy stuff and starting a baby girl's bishop on a sweet little white fabric with pink flowers.
    After that, time for a couple of fall outfits for Reid!

    I am putting together a Chery Williams green and white seersucker smocked bubble (Ellen McCarn Goin' Buggy plate). I have smocked for 8 years, and I am FINALLY making an outfit for my son (born in December). I have smocked for all of my friends children for years so it is a delight to be able to sew for my own child.

    Trying to survive the heat of TX! Crocheting a baby blanket and procrastinating on starting a hand sewn baptism gown because I can't commit to what fabric to use! Better decide soon, since baby will be here in 10 weeks!

    I am doing shadow embroidery on a baby dress in case my sister in law's baby is a little girl! (due in a couple of weeks) Next, I will start on a baby dress (probably smocked) For an expected niece, and I may start smocking a fall or Christmas dress for my almost five year old daughter.

    My two current projects are reupholstering barstools for our church's youth room and then making an apron for a customer. But as soon as I finish those, I will be making 4th of July outfits for my daughters. My little one wants a smocked flag bishop like I made for a custom a few years ago. She is almost 8 so this may be her last bishop.

    I am making one quilt for our new great niece in Sweden and another for our family to use on picnics. I am sewing a new tunic for myself to wear with tights. And doing a hand embroidered tablecloth for Christmas. Plenty of variety.

    I am actually making something for myself. It is a pattern called "Liberty Shirt" and I am using a lovely piece of Thai silk. My next project is a Jon-Jon that will feature your smocked elephants (my husband's favorite animal). I don't have any grandsons, but my son-in-law recently told me that he can't wait to have little boys and dress them up! I was thrilled.

    I wish I could say I am getting ready to smocked something adorable....but I am not! I just finished a pair of linen slacks for me.....and I have a great piece of silk-like fabric that I want to make a shell for me. As my only granddaughter is 13, my smocking days are over, unless I need a baby gift or a new nightgown for me!

    Thank you for the giveaway. I love your patterns and love all the help you give on your blog. The next thing I am sewing is really not me sewing, but helping my daughter learn to sew for my 6 month old granddaughter. She wants to make her a ruffled diaper cover for game days in the fall. It is fun to see how her having a baby has inspired her to want to learn to sew!

    After two months working on my daughter's 6th grade graduation dress,I made her a very cute kimono-style blouse (pattern Kyoto Teens)which she loved. Now she wants me to make here a vest and I've been looking all over for the right pattern. I am so thrilled that at age 12 I can still sew for her. I only wish some of the cute girl patterns could be available for older girls/tweens!

    I am finishing a smocked dress. The pattern is the Gwen view of the Bishop dress from Children's Corner and the smocking plate is the free pattern from Sew Beautiful this month. This dress is for my beautiful new granddaughter born on Thursday!

    In the past two weeks I have finally had some sewing therapy (as I call it). I finished 4 pillowcase dresses, 1 childs apron, and a short outfit for my grandaughter, and 1 t-shirt dress, and embroideered a chef hat for a friend. I think that is more than I have been abel to do all year. Don't you know that sure felt good! this week I have my sites on 3 aprons and 2 pillowcase tops. Carla J

    I'm making a reversible Jon Jon from Martha Pullen's book, Martha's Favorite Appliques. I just finished plaid, patched shorts and appliqued tshirt with three fish on a string.     Hi Michie' I just yesterday went to Martha Pullen Market and purchased lots of fabric to make Wee gown from. I also purchased lace and Entredeoux. My next project will be to make a Silk Baby Gown using that Entredeoux . I just can't wait to get started. I'm so brand new to smocking and heirloom sewing these past 6 months or so...

    I am finishing the first of three christening gowns for two family members and a friends' granddaughter, then on to the third flower girl dress in 15 months for my oldest daughters' wedding in September. I'm using combinations of Old Fashioned Baby patterns for the christening gowns and I am duplicating the white organza/diamond hem treatment dress that Missy Billingsley did in Sew Beautiful a few years ago and was featured in the Anniversary Issue. I'm using Louise from Childrens Corner and Natalie from Olabelhe. Then on to two smocked first birthday gifts. Lots of babies coming in our family right now. Yay!

    I am about to start baby outfits for a former student. I taught 3rd grade for many years until I had my babies. One of my students now works with my cousin. My student is expecting twins...a boy and a girl! I am so excited for her! My studetns were like my own years ago!     I am sewing a Moses Basket liner for my SAGA chapter raffle. It is made of white pre-quilted fabric. I have machine embroidered Peter Rabbit designs on the walls of the liner.     I'm working on a smocked summer nightgown for our 3 year old granddaughter. The fabric is a lightweight cotton that has "aged" in my stash for awhile--white background with blue ribbons and bows to match her blue eyes.

    At the moment I am sewing up some blocks and links for my grandson who will be one in two weeks. Part ofhis birthday present from us. Then I am actually going to do some sewing for me. I have a 40's Reproduction pattern that is a dress. This one though has a long version, 49 in. length. When I am sewing from vintage patterns from the 40's I always add major to the length. They were trying to save on fabric. I don't feel comfortable in a dress that's more than a few inches above my ankles, lol. I found the most lucious cotton for it too. I don't sew for myself often. Then it will be back to the grandchildren. I think i need to smock something. Thank you for the chance.

    I am finishing a bishop for Caroline - it is Martha Broyles Cherries that was on the cover of AS&E. I had do some adjusting for a size 6-7. I have pleated two blue checked bishopsf or Caroline and Anna Claire to work on this week at the beach and I still have to sew buttons on the girls' beach dresses. It looks like the weather is going to bed nasty so I may have lots of sewing time and not much beach time. This is Caroline's and Jason's birthday trip.

    For my 10 month old grand-daughter, I am making a Simplicity sundress with embellishments from Kari Mecca's book Sewing with Whimsy. Making rick rack flowers is fun. I am also smocking tulips to go with similar fabric to make Sunsuit #132. Summer lasts forever here in Scottsdale so I won't be working on fall/winter outfits for a while.

    I am working on matching bubbles for my 19 mos. and 21 mos. old granddaughters. The fabric is green and white stripesd seersucker with hot pink flamingoes on them. The bubbles are piped in hot pink. I also love your patterns and your blog.

    Michie, I just finished an heirloom baby gown and slip as a gift for a friend of mine who just had a new granddaughter! After that I switched gears and helped my daughter get a purple vinyl bean bag chair covered and monogrammed to match the new decor of my granddaughter's room. Now I'm ready to smock something! Jill of all trades and master of none?? :) Sure hope Rex is doing well. You are both in my prayers.

    Hi Michie, I am finishing up a Jonjon for my DGS. Its made of a cotton fabric with boats in navy scattered on white. I piped it in navy and white whipped stitch piping and monogrammed in the a dark yellow. I just have the buttonholes and hand work left. Next in line is a white pleated bubble from your line for a Christening. Thanks - Judy

    I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery, and have just started back at sewing and smocking. I am working on a wee care gown, and hope to start on some curtains next. I love your blog, BTW, and read it just about every day. You inspire me!

    I just finished several appliqued shirts with matching shorts for my grandsons. I have started an appliqued sundress for my oldest granddaughter. It is a sewing filled summer. Love it!

    Michie', I just finished Heirloom Dress Pattern #124 and it was beautiful. The fabric was Swiss Organdy and it needed a slip so I used MP Pattern. I will send you a picture of it! I gave it to a neighbor who just had her first baby. She wore it to church and looked adorable in it. I am about to make the tiny pleats on the bottom of my first daygown.     I have an issue with FINISHING things :) Finally finished two Children's Corner Taylor bubbles. I've got four bishops (#135 and Ellen McCarn) in the works; all the smocking is done, I just need to finish. On the dining room table: Lyn Weeks' Frannie dress (cut out and pleated) and #132 sunsuit mid-trace. The kitchen counter is being used to cut a baby blanket. You (I) don't really want to know how many unfinished projects there are between the laundry room, the study and the craft room :)

    I made your pattern 126 for my two granddaughters. I tried to send you a picture of the finished dress, but it did not work. I made the dress out of a butterfly fabric from Fabric Finders and smocked butterflies on the inset. It was just the cutest thing I have made. The girls looked adorable in the dress!

    I just finished #123 sunsuit for a little boy. It is blue and white stripes on the bottom; the bib is red stripes and the waistband is white. I need to put the red/white/blue ribbon on the white waistband and voile----we will be ready for my grandson's Fourth of July picnic!
