The Journey

We were thrilled to finally take a little road trip with very good friends last week.  The perfect day for a drive on the Natchez Trace Parkway.  A picnic happened, the Dogwood trees were still in bloom, and we stopped at all the "scenic views" listed in the brochure. The speed limit is low, the road is curvy as you go north, and although I promised we would see deer, wild turkeys were plentiful instead.

Much like our life right now, our pace is slower and we don't know what is around the next curve.  Many of you have asked lately how we are doing.  Rex's memory is a little worse and he is a little more unsteady.  We have good days and bad days.  But, he is still able to enjoy the family activities and the grand kids.  I told someone yesterday, "We don't like the journey that we are on, but we are thankful for where we are on the path."

A Little Reminder...

Just a little reminder, that after buying the very best fabric, and after spending many hours sewing that very special gown for that very special baby... a picture like this might be your very favorite!

Double Tucks

How about double tucks to add detail to a plain bubble or dress front?  My article for making the tucks appeared in Sew Beautiful Magazine several years ago, and it was a nice surprise to see the article posted on their blog recently.

The outfit is made out of yellow handkerchief linen using pattern #126.  The sweet little buttons were purchased from Wendy Scheon Designs.

Are You Sewing?

Are you sewing?  I would like to say "yes", but I must be truthful.  I've been doing a whole lot of....

this,

and this,

and this.

In my quest for a well balanced life, I think I have it just about right.  :)

Jumper With Smocked Pocket

Sometimes a touch of smocking somewhere other than the front yoke adds interest to a garment.  This little jumper and blouse was made using pattern #140 and is just right for Spring.  The jumper is fully lined with pink and white seersucker, which also makes it reversible.

Less smocking also tends to be more suitable for the older girls.

Something Blue

Okay, guess what my favorite color is?  While gathering up new Spring dresses to take over to my special girl, I glanced back into the sewing room and I did it again.  Every dress is blue!

Do you have a color theme going on?
